The victory of the carioca João Fonseca about the Argentine Francisco Cerudolo in his first ATP level final puts the 18 -year -old tennis player on the list of Brazilians with titles from the Association of Professional Tennisas.

The Rio de Janeiro tennis player reached the decision of ATP 250 Buenos Aires after the spectacular turn against Argentine Mariano Navone in the quarterfinals and victory against Serbian Laslo Djere in the semifinals.

In this Sunday’s match (16), the result was no different: by 2 sets to 0, Fonseca took the best and became the youngest Brazilian to win the tour in the Open Era (from 1968), with his 18 years and five months of age.

Fluminense also becomes the tenth player of the country to win a competition from the circuit’s elite and to join the select group of ATP champions, along with names such as Gustavo Kuerten, Guga, who leads the ranking with 20 titles in simple.

With the victory over Serbian Laslo Djere and the classification to the final of the tournament, Fonseca becomes the youngest Brazilian to play an ATP final in the open era (from 1968).
