No upswing in sight – tariffs pollute the development of the German economy


Berlin/Vienna – The course for the German economy is not up to an upswing even after the turn of the year. “A weak internal and foreign economic demand situation, increased political uncertainty and weakly utilized capacities put a strain on production and investments,” says the current monthly report of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. “In addition, the sunken competitiveness of German industry is likely to continue to dampen export development.”
