With technology becoming an increasingly integrated part with everyday life, the question of how they interact with these devices becomes increasingly relevant. A (Cetic) research reveals that children from 0 to 8 years old are increasingly connected, not only using, but also having these devices. Álvaro Nocera, expert in the area, points out that technology is practically integrated with the lives of the little ones, but warns of the risks of early self -exposure.

Cetic data show a significant increase in access to by children. Between 2015 and 2024, the percentage of children from 0 to 2 years old who access the internet rose from 9% to 44%. For children aged 3 to 5, the number jumped from 26% to 71%, and for those from 6 to 8 years, from 41% to 82%. Cetic researcher Luísa Adib points out that Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the use of cell phones among the younger ones, also reflecting on possession of their own devices. Despite the advance in connectivity, there are concerns about self-exposure and the type of content consumed by children, which can impact their development and well-being.

Psychologist Luciana Inocencio, a specialist in child care, warns her parents about the use of smartphones by young children. She questions the need for children from 0 to 2 years old to have access to cell phones, noting that there is no importance or need at this stage. Innocent points out that early use of the internet can impair children’s attention and concentration, as the children’s brain needs time to learn and develop properly.

Excessive exposure to screens can interfere with this process, leading to possible learning difficulties and socialization in the future. In response to these concerns, President Lula sanctioned a law at the beginning of the year that prohibits the use of cell phones in teaching units, from elementary to middle school.
