Police in Munich intervened in the encounters of AFD supporters with anti -Imonstrators

The far right -wing and anti -immigration party Alternative for Germany (AfD) organized a commemorative event for the victims of the local Thursday attack on Sunday in the center of Munich. Opponents of abuse of this attack on political goals also went to the streets, while the police intervened on the site of two conflicting meetings, which briefly detained eight people. The attack in Munich occurred on Thursday at approximately 10.30 CET near the main railway station. A 24-year-old Afghan was thrown into the crowd of the demonstration participants called the Verdi trade union. The attack claimed at least two victims, a 37-year-old woman from Algeria and her two-year-old daughter, who succumbed to injuries on Saturday. In addition, at least another 39 people have suffered injuries.

The AfD organized a reverent event on Sunday for the victims of the attack on the Königsplatz Square in the center of Munich, located just a few hundred meters from the site of the attack. Opponents of abuse of attack on political purposes organized their own counter-proposts on the spot. The police estimated that around 70 people took part in the AfD event, while about 600 people came to protest. Approximately 50 participants of the protest, according to the police, created a human chain to prevent AfD supporters from putting flowers in the attack site.

The young Afghan was detained after Thursday’s attack, and the German media later identified him as Farhada N. His act in Germany was restored shortly before the next week’s parliamentary elections of the discussion of deportations of unsuccessful asylum seekers.

Bavarian investigators assume that the attack had an Islamist motive on the basis of the termination of the detainee. Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder called for immediate negotiations with Taliban on such deportations, saying that one deportation flight to Afghanistan was held every week.

The family of a killed woman and daughter issued a statement on Sunday that the attack is not abused to incite hatred in society.
