Tavira celebrates Carnival with children's parade and masquerade

With the motto “This life is two days. Carnival, there are three ”, Tavira is preparing to start the carnival festivities. The program starts on February 27 at 10:00, with the traditional children’s carnival parade, which will take place in Praça da República and the Garden of the Korel. The event promises days of fun, color and joy, involving the entire school community.

About 1,500 participants, including students, teachers, educators and assistants of the preschool and the 1st cycle of public and private education, will leave the street to bring to the parade to life. Creativity and individual imagination will be protagonists, in a party full of music, streamers, paper and fantasies that guarantee good disposition to all present.

In addition to providing moments of socialization and animation, the event aims to keep alive the traditions of immaterial cultural heritage, reflecting the identity of the community and transmitting it to younger generations.

The animation continues at the masquerade balls, promoted by, with the support of the Tavira Parish Council.

Between March 1st and 3rd, always at 9:30 pm, the Ribeira Market will be the scene of Folia nights to the following artists: Generations (March 1), Ruben Filipe (March 2) and Cristiano Martins (3 March).

Tavira promises a lively carnival, celebrating tradition with music, color and a lot of fun.
