The polar whirlwind over North America still persists. During the next week its southern edge will create a distinctive, freezing cold Arctic current from Canada to the United States, which can knock temperatures to – 40 to – 45 ° C, writes.
Before the Arctic whirlwind arrives, the northeast of the US will be hit by a strong Jett. The polar virus disrupted extremely weather conditions with long -lasting Arctic cold impacts and intense storms this month.
Significant cooling on Sunday intensified in the northern lowlands and during the week it will gradually spread to the south and east of the United States. In the middle of the week, the Arctic cold air reaches south to the Gulf of Mexico and Friday to the east coast. Brutally cold days and local historically record low temperatures are assumed.
Will our territory also affect the collapse of the polar whirlwind? In Slovakia there are currently large differences in clouds and winds, which also affect the temperature. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) informs about this on the social network, saying that all -day frosts have already begun in some areas.
The coldest is in the north, where it is minus four to minus five degrees Celsius in the cloudy weather, occasional snowfall and in the afternoon. On the contrary, in the lee in the Banská Bystrica and Nitra regions there is in the sunny and low windy weather up to three to four degrees. It is around zero in most of the East and the extreme west.
Most clouds and snow showers are created in the north. “The hilly clouds are also created in the east and the extreme west, where there is also a stronger wind, as the northern flow is not blocked by mountains,” Meteorologists write. On the contrary, in the lee in the mountains in the Banská Bystrica, Nitra region and its surroundings, clouds are disintegrating and the wind is significantly weaker.
“In addition, there was a low cloud in the extreme south of Hungary,” He said the SHMI, saying that in the east and west it is also more windy. At night, on Sunday, they measured minus 17 degrees Celsius in Orava Polhora. In the next days, night frosts will intensify on average.
