Transpetro wants to hire 8 gas transport ships

Bidding to purchase boats with capacities of up to 14,000 cubic meters of LPG was launched this Monday (17.FEV)

It launched it on Monday (17.FEV.2025) an international bid for hiring 8 gas transport ships. With the acquisition of vessels, the company will triple its ability to carry LPG (liquefied oil) and derivatives. The company’s Gaseeiro Ship fleet will go from 6 to 14.

One of the lots of the bidding includes 5 ships, with 3 vessels of 7,000 cubic meters and two of 14,000 cubic meters of capacity. These gaseiros will be of the pressurized type, intended for the transportation of LPG and derivatives.

The other batch of the announcement includes the acquisition of 3 ships with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters. These vessels will also be able to carry ammonia, a product that is currently not transported by Transpetro. The company evaluates that the entry of these new vessels will enable the expansion of Transpetro’s service portfolio.

Interested companies have 90 days to submit their proposals. According to the schedule, the 1st ship should be delivered within 30 months after the signing of the contract. The others should be delivered successively every 6 months.

The notice for hiring the gaseiro ships is part of an ad package that will be made by Transpetro in conjunction with a. At the ceremony, which will be attended by the President (PT) in Rio de Janeiro, the state oil company will sign protocols of intent to reuse platforms in the phase of demobilization.

Petrobras plans to demobilize 10 platforms by 2029, and the intention protocols signed aim to analyze the viability of the reuse of these units.
