An unprecedented rush to proceed with the procedures for peace talks in the Moscow -Kiev war, show and insist on.
White House Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Whitkov, said he would go to Saudi Arabia later today with US National Security Advisor Mike Valts to have talks with a Russian official. It was the first confirmation of official lips for these talks in the Sunni kingdom, following recent reports on the issue.
“I’ll go tonight,” Witten said on his trip, in an interview with Fox News. “I will go there with the National Security Advisor and we will have meetings, under the guidance of the President and we hope that we will record some really good progress.”
The upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia will be one of the first high -level – face -to -face talks between Russian and US officials for years. They are intended to prepare the ground for a summit of US President Donald Trump and his Moscow Vladimir Putin counterpart.
Embarrassment and annoyance by Europe and Ukraine to block
Ukrainian leaders and officials in other European countries have publicly expressed their frustration and discomfort that the US government Trump has excluded them from negotiations with the Russians.
Ukrainian officials said they were not invited to this meeting in Saudi Arabia, with any discussions in Riyadh.
Whitkov disagreed that the Ukrainians were cut off from talks with the Russians. In an interview with FOX, he stressed that Ukrainian officials met with high -ranking US officials during the Munich Conference on Security at the weekend. However, he did not say whether the Ukrainians were invited to meetings in Saudi Arabia.
“I don’t think anyone is excluding,” said the White House Special Envoy for the Middle East. “In fact, this is a inclusion of everyone,” he added.
Yesterday Republican MP Michael Macol said that US Secretary of State Marko Rubio, Valts and Whitkov will travel to Saudi Arabia to have peace talks about the Ukrainian.
Six US questions ask for answers from… Europe
Washington has sent European governments to questions about what would be needed by the US to provide Ukraine security guarantees.
In the document, consisting of six points and questions, the US also ask, among other things, which countries could contribute to guarantees, (which) would be willing to develop troops in Ukraine, in the context of a peaceful settlement and the size of a possible power, under European leadership.
A State Department spokesman stressed that Washington “made it clear that it is expecting European partners to take over the establishment of a stable security framework and look forward to their proposals.”
In detail the questions sent by the US, according to a document that came to the knowledge of Reuters
- What do you consider as Europe -supported, security guarantees or safeguards that act as a sufficient deterrent to Russia, while ensuring that this war is ended with a constant peace arrangement?
- Which European and/or third countries do you think could or would be involved in such a settlement? Are there countries that you think (their participation) is essential? Would it be ready for your country to develop its own army in Ukraine in the context of a peacekeeping settlement?
- If third -country military forces are deployed in Ukraine, in the context of a peace agreement, what would you consider to be the necessary size of such a leadership of Europe? How and where will these forces grow and for how long?
- What actions do the US, allies and partners have to prepare if Russia attacks these forces?
- What, if any, US support requirements would be necessary for your government to participate in these security arrangements? Specifically, what short -term and long -term resources do you think will be required by the US?
- What additional capabilities, equipment and maintenance options are your government to provide Ukraine to improve its negotiating position and increase pressure on Russia? What is the most willing to do your government to increase its sanctions on Russia, including the stricter imposition of sanctions and the best targeting of third countries worldwide, providing facilities to Russia?
Searching for Mr. “Perfect”
Europe needs a special envoy to Ukraine to ensure that it has a meaningful role in any peace process, two European leaders said after the exclusion of the Old Epirus as a partner in the talks by the US President Donald Trump’s government.
Europe will not have a place on the Public Talks Table for Ukraine, he said
In response, the French president, including Britain. This will aim to consider what kind of immediate assistance can be provided to Ukraine, what specific role Europe can play in providing security guarantees for Kiev, and how its collective security will be enhanced.
However, dozens of similar summits have shown a Europe -wide Europe, are sometimes divided and politically weak and runs to devise a cohesive plan to end the war in Ukraine and face Russia.
“If I can, just throw away an idea, if there is a negotiating table, I think we have to do something similar to what happened in Kosovo,” Finnish President Alexander Stubb said at the Munich Conference on Security, referring to diplomacy. It helped to end Serbia’s military repression in 1998-99, against its southern province and led to the creation of the Kosovo state.
“Europe needs to have a special envoy such as (was) Marty Ahistaari (in Kosovo), and then a deputy envoy who will be at the level of … Kloger … and in this sense, to have a role.”
In his phone call to the Russian president – whose forces began a full -scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago – without previously consulting with them or with Kiev and announcing an immediate launch of peace talks.
His government also caused numbness at the beginning and anger then, after raw comments on her approach to the Ukraine-Russia War, and US Vice President Jay Di Vance has fired a severe attack on Munich in the Republic of Europe and its values.
“What we haven’t had in Ukraine in recent years has been a personality that will be highly valued by everyone who will be taken into account in Moscow, take into account in Kiev and support in Washington and European capitals and other leaders, including World South, which could have the authorization to manage peace talks, “said Croatian Prime Minister Andrei Plnkovic. “We need the high visibility of a powerful who can manage the process,” he added.
