When you come home, the dog welcomes you. He jumps differently and shows that he is happy. But a cat, that’s another caliber. Mostly one has to go through the whole house to find this small beast. And she can call her as he wants. Therefore, the question: Is the cat able to recognize the voice of its master?

Supported by tests

Researchers at the University of Tokyo came up with an explanation that yes. The cat will certainly recognize your voice according to their study. How did they do it? They took 20 different felines and subjected to tests. They followed their reactions to three pre -recorded unknown voices that called their names. In the next phase, their gentlemen released their voices.

All the time, scientists have closely observed the movement of the ears, tail and head, or even whether they wake up and stretch their eyes or grow. And all 20 cats tested reacted the same way when their known voice was heard – their behavior changed, they were interested and began to move. But, unlike dogs, the authors of the study did not notice any follow -up communication or intention. Why, then, does the cat do not respond when a person who drunk her from the kittens calls it? Let alone to obey any order?

Back to the past

Let’s look for an explanation in the distant past. Dogs were consistently trained in domestication to respond to orders and provide people in everyday life. This is a well -known fact. Between man and dog 15,000 years ago began to create a non -debt bond, symbiosis. While it was completely different in cats. Domestication dates back to 9,000 years back, until agriculture began to emerge.

At that time, the beasts were kept on farms with the aim of hunting rodents, because they were threatening the grain reserves. The cats thus made their lives and lived in complete autonomy. As a rule, they did not even know about the presence of a person, they just somehow recorded that they were people nearby. And that’s why they never learned to listen to calls and commands.

The genes are responsible for everything

Moreover, the nature of the hunter is written in their DNA, so they never needed any training. Until now, when the cat remains in the wild, he lives as a loner. Also, food search requires the use of all its cognitive abilities such as spatial orientation, memory or concentration. So, when the cat focuses on its prey, under no circumstances does not want to be dispersed. Otherwise, she would remain hunger.

True, today we can say that we feed our “small tigers” at home and do not have to hunt anything anywhere, but because of their genes they simply retain their habit and attitude and do not run on call. But it is not entirely that cats behave on purpose, really for it is their genes and ancient way of domestication, they do not even realize it.

But that does not mean that you are completely free as their owners. Even if they do not show it, cats very much appreciate the care you give them at home, be it water and food, time to play and caress on the tummy. Apropo, all of this contributes to their good health and well -being.
