This Tuesday (18), the Paraná Research Institute released a public opinion poll conducted andNot on January 7 and 10, 2025 with the objective of consulting the population about income tax exemption for people who earn up to R $ 5,000.
The survey pointed out that until that moment 39.2% of participants were not yet aware of the measure announced by the government, while 60.8% said they were aware of the change. Considering the respondents’ response to the proposal, 67% of the population approved the measure. On the other hand, 23.2% dismissed the exemption from IR to those who earn up to 5,000 reais, while 9.8% preferred not to give their opinion or could not answer.
For this survey, a sample of 2018 voters in 26 states and Federal District was used in 164 municipalities. Such a representative sample of Brazil reaches a degree of confidence of 95.0% for an estimated margin of error of 2.2 percentage points for general results. Thinking about data collection, the information obtained for the study was conducted through personal interviews.
At the end of 2024, the government announced a new monetary policy with the proposal for exemption from the For people who earn up to $ 5,000. The measure aims to relieve the tax burden on the lower and medium classes of Brazilian society, as well as increase taxation on the richest.
According to the president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, such objective containment policy “to give a tightness” in the house. “We are exempt people who earn up to $ 5,000 per month of paying income tax, which are more than 70 million people. We are doing something correct, fair. And obviously, we will have to charge a little more tax from the richest people, which is normal. There is no problem, ”said the head of state.
