Aunt has been doing rhododendrons in the garden in February for years. In May they bloom beautifully
Rhododendron is one of the most popular plants in Poles’ gardens. It blooms beautifully and decorates the space in front of the house throughout the spring and summer. In Polish gardens, we most often grow evergreen rhododendrons and azaleas, which drop the leaves for the winter. These are beautiful, long -term bushes that delight with flowers from spring to autumn. Of course, the rhododendron requires appropriate conditions to be able to bloom. As with many garden plants, Rhododendron also requires fertilization and watering. However, the care of the rhododendron does not end when it is bloated. My aunt always said that rhododendrons are shrubs that should be cared for all year round, even in winter, so that they would bloom beautifully in May. That is why in February it is worth looking after them to see if they are, for example, dry. Then one simple care treatment should be performed to.
Rhododendrons care in winter
It mainly consists in providing the plant with adequate hydration. If the rhododendrons leaves to curl in winter, this is a sign of physiological drought. The shrub should be watered as soon as a positive temperature occurs and no frosts are forecast. The plant can dry out because it absorbs water from the ground all the time. Therefore, it is worth placing snow around the plant or when the temperature is positive, water it with rain -collected rain. And here a very important rule – under no circumstances with non -water at room temperature, because for them it will have the temperature of boiling water. As I mentioned, drought is the most harmful for rhododendrons, so under the litter it is worth spreading bio -plated, and the roots of the bush mound from the bark. In turn, in the case of low -resistant low temperatures varieties, agrotextile can be imposed on the bush.
