The former mayor of Taboão da Serra, José Aprigio (Somos), would have disbursed R $ 85,000 to purchase the rifle used in against him during the 2024 election campaign. The information is in the award -winning denunciation of one of the prisoners in the case, whose content was revealed by the portal G1.
According to the denunciation, approved by the court, Aprigio and at least nine people are investigated by criminal association and attempted simulated homicide. The plan was allegedly designed to generate commotion and leverage his candidacy for reelection.
“José Aprigio wanted to hire them to ‘be startled’ in it, in order to draw the media’s attention and boost their candidacy for the city,” says the collaborator’s testimony.
According to the whistleblower, municipal secretaries involved in the scheme brokered the payment of $ 500,000 for five gunmen and their cronies. The information was crucial for the Civil Police and the prosecutor to launch, on Monday (17), the “Operation Hidden Fact”, to arrest the suspects.
Simulation came out of control
The alleged attack occurred on October 18, 2024, when Aprigio’s armored car was hit by six rifle shots on Avenida Aprigio Bezerra da Silva, which bears the name of the politician’s father. The then mayor was shot on the left shoulder, but his driver, a secretary and a photographer, who were in the vehicle, came out unharmed.
Investigations indicate that the farce organizers did not foresee that the shots would cross the shield and reach Aprigio. “It was the mayor himself who asked to shoot the glass of the vehicle,” said the whistleblower, explaining that the group believed that the shots would not exceed the protection of the car.
