Argentina President Javier Milei said on Monday that he acted “in good faith” with his X-posting on a cryptocurrency that fell hours later, in the latest shock wave of a scandal that threatened to slow down the Libertarian leader impetus.

Milei spoke in an interview with a local TV station, saying he was not endorsing the project, but only shared information about it, distancing himself from the role that the state played in the scandal.

Milei, on Friday night (14), announced at $ Libra in a post on the social network, starting a brief recovery. He later deleted the post and denied having any connection with the cryptocurrency, which soon plummeted.

Opposition legislators said Milei could face an impeachment trial for their actions, and an Argentine judge was designated on Monday to investigate the president for his involvement in the scandal.
