The 6th International Open of Tennis of Vila Real de Santo António started with some difficulties due to the rain that fell in the early afternoon, allowing the completion of only four meetings. As a result, the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex will have a Wednesday full of tennis, with 14 scheduled matches and the presence of eight Portuguese tennis players in action. The highlight goes to Frederico Ferreira Silva (288), who on Sunday won the 20th title of his career at ITF World Tennis Tour and emerges as the main favorite to victory.
Just three days after the M25 category tournament, Ferreira Silva returns to Court 1 of the Vila Real de Santo António Tennis Club to face Daniel Batista (1738) at the third meeting of the day. Earlier, Gastão Elias (378), seventh standard head, takes action at Court 2 at 11:30 am, against Canadian Justin Boulais (558), before the duel between compatriots Diogo Marques (868) and John Graça (1632) in the same field.
In Court 3, Pedro Araújo (393) will have a demanding test against German Nicola Kuhn (392), eighth standard, while Francisco Rocha (771) opens the journey in Court 4, facing Russian Pavel Verbin (398). Then Tiago Pereira (504th) measures forces with the British Ryan Peniston (440).
The journey at Court 1 begins with the clash between the former World Martin Klizan (304) and Bulgarian Alexander Petrov, in one of the two meetings interrupted by rain on Tuesday. Of the four meetings that came to an end, one dictated the elimination of Portuguese Guilherme Valdoleiros (2064), defeated by British Millen Hurrion (849) 6-3, 6-0, in 75 minutes.
The 6th International Open of Tennis of Vila Real de Santo António is organized by the Vila Real Tennis Club of Santo António (), with the support of the Vila Real City Council of Santo António (CMVRSA) and the Portuguese Tennis Federation (FPT), distributing $ 30,000 (about 29,000 euros) in monetary awards.
