Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, Xai, launched its updated Grok-3 model, presenting a chatbot version to challenge OpenAi, a few days after the rejection of the unquited billionaire supply of the company to buy the company.
In math, science and programming tests, Grok-3 surpassed OpenAi GPT-4, Alphabet Inc. Google Gemini, DeepSek’s V3 model and Anthropic Claude, according to Xai, during a live broadcast on this Monday. The Grok-3 has “more than 10 times” the computational capacity of its predecessor and completed its pre-training in early January, Musk said in a presentation alongside three Xai engineers.
Musk performance allegations, which have not been independently verified, increase increasingly fierce rivalry between its startup and open. Musk founded Xai in 2023 as an alternative to the creator of ChatgPT, a company he has publicly criticized for restructuring as an organization for profit.
Musk, the richest person in the world, has already sued OpenAi twice, claiming that the company has deviated from its founding principles. He also tried to buy OpenAi’s non -profit division for $ 97.4 billion, but the proposal was rejected last week. OpenAi CEO Sam Altman classified the offer as an attempt by Musk to “slow us down.” Musk was one of the founders of OpenAi, but has been critical of the company since leaving the board in 2018.
Xai also presented a new intelligent search engine with Grok-3, called Deepsearch. Deepsearch is a chatbot that expresses its reasoning about understanding a question and how it plans the answer. It includes options for research, brainstorming and data analysis, according to the demonstration. Musk’s team also announced plans to launch a chatbot with voice interaction.
“We are improving the models every day, and literally in 24 hours you will see improvements,” said Musk.

GROK-3 is available for PREMIUM+ NO X plan subscribers at a cost of $ 22 per month, compared to the $ 200 a month charged for full access to the OpenAI GPT-4. Xai is also releasing a new signature called Supergok for the mobile app and the Grok.com website. The company aims to make previous versions of open source grok models as soon as the latest version is completely ripe, which musk estimates it will happen in the coming months.
Following the release of Grok-3, Andrej Karpathy, co-founder of OpenAi and former AI director of Tesla Inc., published a preliminary analysis of the new model in the X, stating that he “seems to be at the level of OpenAi’s most advanced models”. . However, Karpathy pointed out that Musk’s chatbot still generates false information and has deficiencies in certain functions. He suggested that more tests will be needed in the coming weeks to better evaluate their abilities.
AI companies like OpenAi and Xai have raised resources at an impressive speed, with their assessments firing. Xai is negotiating a financing round of about $ 10 billion, which would raise the company’s value to approximately $ 75 billion, according to Bloomberg News. Xai’s latest review was about $ 51 billion, according to Pitchbook data.

OpenAi, in turn, seeks to capture up to $ 40 billion in a round that can raise its valuation to $ 300 billion.
These companies require large investments. In January, Softbank Group Corp., OpenAi, Oracle Corp. However, competing technologies are emerging and can challenge this model, making it easier to enter new competitors.
