Fourth favorite fruit of the Portuguese is not advised to breakfast. Know why

Banana is one of the most consumed fruits in Portugal and occupies the fourth position in the preference ranking of the Portuguese. Practical and tasty, this fruit is often chosen as a quick option for breakfast. However, experts warn that it may not be the best choice for the first meal of the day, due to its impact on blood sugar levels and its moderate acidity.

According to Dr. Daryl Gioffre, creator of the Alkamind diet, banana contains about 25% sugar and can cause a rapid increase in glucose levels in the body. This effect can lead to a peak momentary energy, followed by fatigue and hunger shortly after. As a result, banana consumption to breakfast can stimulate appetite and favor excessive consumption of other foods throughout the day.

Although it is rich in potassium, magnesium and fiber, banana has an acidity that can affect the body’s balance, especially when consumed in isolation. To avoid this effect, experts recommend combining it with other foods, such as healthy fats and seeds, which help balance sugar absorption and neutralize its acidity, explains.

One of the suggested ways to consume banana to breakfast without compromising well-being is to combine it with coconut butter, almonds, chia seeds or flaxseed. These options help reduce the impact of fruit on the body, making the meal more balanced.

Breakfast plays a key role in supplying energy for daily activities. However, many people maintain repetitive eating habits, without considering the nutritional impact of their choices. Alternating food consumed can contribute to better control of sugar levels and greater metabolic balance.

There are several alternatives for those who want to diversify breakfast. Pancakes, porridge and granola are options that can be prepared in advance and provide a balanced nutrient combination. These alternatives allow to avoid sudden oscillations in energy levels throughout the day.

For those who enjoy a salty breakfast, scrambled eggs, omelets or avocado toast are good options. These foods are rich in healthy proteins and fats, helping to maintain satiety longer.

Experts also warn of excessive consumption of juices and breakfast in breakfast. Although they are practical, they may contain a high concentration of sugar and not provide a sufficient satiety feeling to avoid hunger before lunch.

The morning feeding should be thought of a balanced way, ensuring an adequate combination of carbon, protein and healthy fats. Choosing the right foods can influence physical and mental performance throughout the day, avoiding energy fluctuations.

Banana remains a nutritious and beneficial option, but should be consumed properly. For those who do not dispense with this fruit in breakfast, combining it with other nutritious foods can be the best solution to ensure a balanced start of day.
