The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) presented on Tuesday (18) a complaint against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and 33 others, accused of planning a coup after defeat in the 2022 elections. Case generated strong repercussion in the political environment, with statements of support and criticism of the former Mandanitor.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) was asked about the case, but avoided commenting on the complaint.
Parliamentarians of the ruling base celebrated the complaint and defended the punishment of those involved. Bolsonaro’s allies have classified the action as political persecution.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), the former president’s son, said that “the attempted coup in empty public buildings became an empty complaint, which has absolutely no evidence against Bolsonaro.” He also criticized the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
Senate opposition leader Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) said that “injustice, agency and persecution will not be able to silence the feeling of the population and what President Jair Bolsonaro represents.”

Former House Minister and Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) mocked the accusation, repeating in his social network: “Bolsonaro is an honest, good and innocent man.”
