In April, the government will launch a support program designed to replace old appliances with more energy -efficient models. Energy Poverty in Portugal
“We have about 20% of the population with energy poverty. The indicators we have, for example, of the social rate of electricity are about 800,000 people. We will help make this transition so that the houses are more comfortable, have less -spent appliances that are electric, ”the minister said in an interview with Renaissance.
Participation criteria
The program will allow both individual and condominium dwellings to be covered, trying to add applications to optimize your management.
The ruler explained that it is intended to avoid overload of requests, as with the program most sustainable buildings, which supported the acquisition of windows with greater energy efficiency.

Application process
Thus, applications will not be made directly to the Environmental Fund, but through the Municipalities, Private Institutions of Social Solidarity (IPSS) and the new Energia spaces.
“The program itself will finance the focal point, which then helps to make the applications and give some indication of how to execute them,” added Maria Graça Carvalho.
Pending reimbursements
The minister also assured that, by the end of April, all requests for reimbursement under the efficient window program will receive a response from the environmental fund.
