Lawyer made a letter to the president’s ministers and allies expressing a deep concern for the political isolation that Lula faces in his third term
Lawyer Antonio Carlos de Almeida de Castro, better known as Kakay, recently released an open letter full of criticism of the federal government. Addressed to the president’s ministers and allies, the letter expresses a deep concern for the political isolation that Lula faces in his third term. Kakay points out that the president is surrounded by people who do not have the courage or the ability to say what they really need to hear, what can be harmful to their leadership. In the document, Kakay also draws attention to the fall in Lula’s approval, which, according to a recent Datafolha survey, is only 24%. This decrease in popularity is particularly remarkable in northeastern Brazil, a region that traditionally supports Lula. As a PT militant and the president’s personal friend, Kakay notes that Lula seems to be attached to the memory of his glorious past, while the civilized right gains strength.
The lawyer criticizes the lack of political leadership around Lula, comparing the current situation with his previous mandates, when the president had prominent political figures by his side. In addition to political criticism, Kakay’s letter addresses economic issues that directly affect the population. He highlights the high food prices and the lack of fiscal austerity of the government as worrying factors. According to Kakay, the economy can be a decisive element for the fall of Lula, especially since the increase in prices directly impacts the low -income population. He suggests that if Lula does not adjust his government, the right can gain strength in the next elections, especially if the president does not compete for reelection due to his advanced age.
