President Luiz Inacio da Silva () avoided the press on Tuesday night (18), moments after the coup plot.

Lula offered one, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. By saying goodbye to the visitor, the Brazilian agent was even questioned distance over the complaint against his political rival, but only greeted journalists and returned to the interior of the palace.

The ceremonies in Itamaraty are often marked by the president’s most frequent speeches, as he passes close to the press area.

Interlocutors point out that guidance within the government is for ministers and Lula himself to avoid commenting on the complaint against Jair Bolsonaro. The argument is that this is a judicial process and that the current government has little to gain, entering controversy.

Amid the fall in popularity, the government should then focus on public measures and policies to reverse the picture, according to a government member.

In addition to Lula, Minister Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations) also participated in an open event, but did not answer the questions of journalists about the complaint.

Lula was informed about PGR’s complaint just when he was at the official reception at the Itamaraty Palace. Minister José Mucio (defense) headed for the table the heads of state and talked to Lula. He informed the agent how many military personnel are reported, to which the president asked for the list of all names.

Subsequently, the president of the Supreme Court, Luis Roberto Barroso, also went to the president’s table and showed Lula a news about the complaint on his cell phone. The minister left dinner next.

Moments earlier, the Attorney General of the Republic, denounced (Supreme Federal Court) former President Jair Bolsonaro on charges after losing the 2022 elections to prevent the petista’s inauguration.

Bolsonaro was accused by the (Attorney General’s Office) of committing crimes of attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law and coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat against heritage, deterioration of overturned assets and participation in a criminal organization. Added, the maximum penalties reach 43 years in prison, not to mention the aggravating.
