In the early evening of Tuesday (18), in Brasilia, the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, denounced former President Jair Bolsonaro and 33 people as articulators of a coup to keep the then president in power in power in power in power Even after the victory at the polls of the current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The complaint arrived at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) tonight and occurs after a PGR task force to analyze federal police inquiry with more than 884 pages on investigations that led to the indictment of 40 people in total. Prosecutor Paulo Gonet considered that the former president of the Republic would be the leader of the criminal organization who acted to plan a coup, who would keep him in power even after defeat to Lula (PT) in the 2022 elections.

“The evidence obtained throughout the investigation show unequivocally that the then President of the Republic, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, planned, acted and had the direct and effective domain of the executory acts performed by the criminal organization aimed at the realization of a Coup d’état and the abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, ”says an excerpt from the PF survey, analyzed by Gonet before offering denunciation.
The PF, in the document, concluded that the coup led by Bolsonaro did not materialize only in the face of “circumstances alien to his will.” Among them would be the resistance of the commanders of the Aeronautics, Lieutenant Baptist Junior Baptist, and the Army, General Freire Gomes, to join the plan.
According to PF investigations, Bolsonaro wrote, adjusted and “wiped” the so -called “draft of coup,” a kind of decree that provided for intervention in the judiciary to prevent Lula’s possession as president and summon new elections.
Bolsonaro, according to the complaint, would have met with the Brazilian Army commander at the time, General Estevam Cals Theófilo, on December 9, 2022, with the aim of organizing military support to consummate the coup. In messages sent by Bolsonaro’s assistant to General Freire Gomes, it is said that the then president was suffering “pressures to take a heavier measure,” with the use of forces by “deputies.”
Within the investigations, in Operation Contragolpe, the PF also identified a group of military, called “black kids”, which planned to kill Lula, Alckmin and the Supreme Court Minister (STF) Alexandre de Moraes.
The PF survey arrived at PGR on November 27, 2024, after order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case at the Supreme Court. By gathering all the pieces attached to the PF final report, the inquiry arrived with more than 30 volumes to the PGR and thousands of pages. Given the magnitude of the case, the result of an investigation that lasted almost two years and identified the performance of six different nuclei in the alleged coup plan, the denunciation of those indicted to the STF occurred on February 18.
Now the case arrives at the STF and the complaint will be analyzed. If the Court accepts, the accused have become defendants and criminal actions will be opened against them. The rapporteur of the case, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, will open the instruction, hear witnesses, defendants, reap evidence. When these steps are completed, the case goes to judgment and, from there, the accused, already indicted, can be convicted and arrested. Bolsonaro, as a pack leader, can take more than 30 years in jail.
In the first level of the accused, there are four ministers of state and three four -star general.
