The Senate installed on Wednesday (19) his permanent committees and elected the presidents of the collegiate for the next two years. The main commissions will be under the command of PSD, MDB, PL and União Brasil.

So far, only three commissions have not yet been installed. The Regional Development Commission holds session at 14h and there is agreement for Senator Dorinha Seabra (Brazil-TO Union) to be chosen president of the board. The Communication and Digital Law and Defense Commissions had their meetings postponed.

Next, the distribution of positions in the Senate permanent commissions for the next two years:

  • Commission on Economic Affairs: Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL)
  • Infrastructure Services Commission: Marcos Rogério (PL-RO)
  • Foreign Relations and National Defense Commission: Nelsinho Trad (PSD-MS)
  • Social Affairs Commission: Marcelo Castro (MDB-PI)
  • Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Commission: Zequinha Marinho (Somos-PA)
  • Environment Commission: Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES);
  • Public Security Commission: Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ)
  • Human Rights Commission: Damares Alves (Republicans-DF)
  • Science, Technology, Innovation and Informatics Commission: Flávio Arns (PSB-PR)
  • Committee on Transparency, Governance, Supervision and Control and Consumer Protection: Dr. Hiran (PP-RR)
  • Sport Commission: Leila Barros (PDT-DF)
  • Education and Culture Commission: Teresa Leitão (PT-PE)

The Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) and the Economic Affairs Commission (CAE) are the most important of the house. These are the most relevant and most repercussed subjects, such as the economic agenda of Finance Minister Fernando Haddad.

The Infrastructure Services Commission is also relevant because it is up to it to analyze all indications for the main regulatory agencies. It is also responsible for discussing industry proposals, such as the project of Offshore Winds recently approved by the Commission.

The Regional Development Commission has been prominent in recent years because of the increase in investments with commission amendments. In the Senate, CDR was, until last year, the board with the greatest contribution in this type of amendments. Senator Dorinha Seabra, who must be elected chairman of the commission, is from the same party as Senate President David Alcolumbre (Brazil-AP Union), which can guarantee him more influence in these resources.
