Sought by the report, the São Paulo press office reported that the field will be able to receive the duel on Wednesday (19), against Ponte Preta, for the Paulista Championship, and added that after the match will be made the total change of lawn.
Because of Shakira’s show, the tricolor team sent two matches away from São Paulo, in Mané Garrincha, in Brasilia.
The need for emergency repairs in the São Paulo field occurs amid discussion about the use of synthetic grass in Brazil, motivated by a manifesto released by players on Tuesday.
Athletes such as Neymar, Gabigol, Philippe Coutinho and Thiago Silva, with stints at clubs in Europe and the Brazilian team, complained about the artificial fields.
“Worrying to see the direction that Brazilian football is taking. It is absurd to have to discuss synthetic lawn in our fields,” they say, in a text entitled “Football is natural, not synthetic!”. “Objectively, with the size and representativeness that our football has, it should not even be an option.”
