Judasowiec (Cercis) is a unique tree that impresses everyone who sees it with its beauty. Its most characteristic feature is the phenomenon of cauifloria – flowering ability not only on but also on older branches and trunk. In spring, before the leaves appear, the whole tree is covered with intensively pink, purple or white flowers that look as if they were pinned to the bark.
Judah is naturally in Mediterranean regions, Asia Minor and North America. The most common species are:
- Canadian Judas (Cercis Canadensis) – known for his frost resistance, is perfect for growing in a cooler climate.

- The position – Judasowiec grows best in sunny and sheltered from the wind. It can tolerate partial shade, but in full sun it blooms most intensively.
- Soil – prefers fertile, permeable and moderately moist soils. It grows well on limestone, but avoids wetlands.
- Watering and fertilization – young ones require regular watering, especially in the first years after planting. It is also worth supplying them with fertilizers rich in phosphorus, which supports flowering.
- Frost resistance – Canadian Judas is the most resistant to low temperatures and can grow in Polish climatic conditions. Other species may require winter cover, especially in the first years after planting.
Judaszowiec not only impresses with its appearance, but also has an interesting story. According to legend, it was on this tree that Judas Iscariot hung himself after the betrayal of Jesus. Hence its name. In fact, however This tree has no negative connotations – On the contrary, in many cultures it is a symbol of revival and beauty.
