The Vila Real de Santo António City Council concluded the construction of the new warehouses in Monte Gordo, reinforcing support to the fishing community and improving the conditions for professionals in the sector.
The work, with a budget of 316,706.80 euros (VAT included), aims to boost this essential activity for the local economy, on which numerous families depend, and contribute to the requalification of public space.
The endeavor, awarded to Tosca-Equipamentos in Madeira, Lda., Was developed in the design/construction project model and resulted in the building of 34 prefabricated wooden warehouses, as well as the creation of a tail for a washing zone social.
The new equipment was installed along the south wall of Avenida Infante D. Henrique, north of the Monte Gordo artisanal fishing association, organizing the storage area of fishing material.
With this intervention, the municipality reinforces “its commitment to the fishing sector, creating better conditions for professionals in the field and promoting the appreciation of local maritime heritage”. In addition, it points out that “the initiative also aims to organize the public space, ensuring more safety and functionality for the fishermen who daily use the area to store their equipment and prepare their activities.”
