With more than 100 dengue deaths, SP government will announce measures today

Faced with the alarming increase in cases and deaths for, the government of São Paulo will announce on Wednesday (19), at a meeting of the Emergency Operations Center (COE) at the Butantan Institute, new measures to combat Aedes Aegypti throughout the state .

The announcement will take place at a critical moment, with 104 confirmed deaths and 226 Deaths under investigation, in addition to 117,502 confirmed cases of the disease.

The Secretary of State for Health, Eleuses Paivawill detail the strategies during the event and will serve the press later. The situation is considered severe, with an incidence of 264.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitantsbringing the state closer to the epidemic defined by the World Health Organization (WHO).

So far, at least 8 regions have reached the level of epidemic: Araçatuba, Sao Jose do Rio Preto, Sao Joao da Boa Vista, Araraquara, Ribeirão Preto, Marília, Presidente Prudente and Barretos.

São José do Rio Preto is the city with the largest number of deaths (10), followed by Mogi Guaçu (8) and Jaboticabal (6). So far, only 107,200 ddengue vaccine oses were applied in São Paulofocusing on people between 6 and 16 years old.

The government seeks to contain the advancement of the disease and prevent the numbers from exceeding those registered last year, when, until the same epidemiological week, 160 deaths had already been confirmed.
