Pronouncing a brief “Good morning”, the former socialist leader José Luis Ábalos has crossed the door of the Supreme Court on Thursday, where he has come to declare for the second time for the alleged plot of corruption headed by Víctor de Aldama that nest in the ministry of transport. The former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, left to the Mixed Group of the Congress of Deputies, has been presented to the magistrate Instructor Leopoldo Puente around 10.00, after the judge ordered last February 4 to appear again, once prosecuted already formally (as its, before Parliament approve the supplication). The Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has requested that the passport and biweekly appearances be removed before the Court, according to several legal sources.
After the interrogation of Ábalos on Thursday, which has lasted just over half an hour, Judge Puente has celebrated a view to study if precautionary measures are imposed on the former minister – imputed by four crimes (influence peddling, criminal organization, bribery and embezzlement ) -. To the commissioner Víctor de Aldama and the former politician of the politician, Koldo García, the magistrate withdrew their passport and forced them to appear every 15 days. The Prosecutor’s Office has claimed the same for the former minister. Now, the judge must decide.
The High Court considers that Ábalos and its former collaborator favored the granting of contracts for the sale of sanitary material to companies linked to Aldama, taking advantage of the laxity of the controls during the Covid pandemic. The Supreme also investigates whether other public contracts were awarded in exchange for commissions. However, the former organization secretary denies it. And, in that same line of defense, he insisted this Thursday.
Ábalos has taken this Thursday the witness of his former advisor, Koldo García, who also returned to the Supreme last Tuesday. The investigating judge Leopoldo Puente to undergo a calligraphic test, with the objective that an expert analyzes later if his letter coincides with the one that appears in several documents delivered by Aldama and that, according to the commissioner, evidence that they tried to love award of public works in exchange for bites. Both the politician and Koldo García have denied those accusations: “There was no commission. As I said many times, ”said the former PSOE organization secretary, in December 2024.
The appearances of Ábalos and his ex -analysis. On February 4, the instructor agreed to accelerate the procedure after the formal prosecution of the former minister – at the root that the one who allows him to investigate him despite his condition of aggorated. The Puente Judge has ordered the Central Operating Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard to investigate in its heritage and that of its son, Víctor Ábalos, whom he has also summoned to declare as a witness on March 4.
In addition to Víctor Ábalos, the magistrate plans to interrogate another 16 people between February 25 and March 5: among them, Jessica RG, ex -partner of the politician; Joseba García, brother of Koldo García; and the businessman Claudio Rivas, who knows the conception (Cádiz) for the enjoyment of the former PSOE deputy – the former minister denies any link with this.
