This initiative is part of the project of modernization and digital inclusion that began in 2021, when Mayor Tião Bocalom took over the municipal administration. Conecta Rio Branco had already been implemented in the Revolution Square during the inauguration of Christmas decoration, in December 2024. For the installation of Conecta Rio Branco at the Urban Terminal, the city invested about $ 200,000 in the purchase of high equipment. Technology, as explained by SDTI secretary Ezequiel Bino.
“This is a policy of the management of Mayor Tião Bocalom. We are already in the Revolution Square and today we launch here at Terminal, which is a point of great movement, where half of the city passes daily. The next places to receive this initiative will be the Florestal Horto and the Chico Mendes Park, which are also widely visited, including tourists. The investment is modest, considering the benefits it brings to the population, totaling R $ 200 thousand in high quality equipment. The range is significant. The technology team of the municipality endeavored to implement, so the expense was only with the equipment, ”said the secretary.
According to Mayor Tião Bocalom, the internet installed in the urban terminal is of high quality and speed, supporting about three thousand connected devices simultaneously.

“The installation of free WiFi in strategic locations, where there is a large flow of people, is essential. The internet that we are making available here at the terminal supports approximately 3,000 connected phones at the same time, with quality, which is critical. What we are doing here is providing the simplest and most humble people who pass here the opportunity to access the internet, watch videos and all of this free, without spending their credits, ”he said.
In 2021, Rio Branco had about 70 kilometers of fiber optic. After four years, the fiber optic network expanded to 400 kilometers, allowing improvements in internet quality in the capital, as deputy mayor Alysson Bestene pointed out. “We noticed an increasingly interactive and connected city, advancing in technology. It is important to remember all the work done, which expanded the optic fiber network to over 400 kilometers, a significant increase over the previous 70 kilometers. In the management of Mayor Bocalom, this expansion has improved the quality of the internet. All health centers and CRAS of the municipality now have connectivity, marking increasingly innovative and technological management, offering quality access to the internet to those who need the most in our capital. ”
The population approved the implementation of Conecta Rio Branco in the Urban Terminal. “I really liked it, it’s a great idea of the mayor, right? Because sometimes we get here and we need the internet to call my children and we can’t. Now just arrive and use, good! Good idea, ”commented retired Elisabeth Alves de Lima, 72. “I think it’s a good measure of the mayor, because it benefits society. This improves the situation, as many users need to pay the ticket and, with Wi-Fi, is easier. Sometimes we have Pix, but we don’t have internet to pay for the ticket, so this is a great improvement for all of us, ”celebrated Silvano Torres, autonomous.
