CIRPASS Project EU
It is from next year that companies will have to put a QR code on the products. The goal? Make known the origin, place of sale and the destination of the goods manufactured in the European Union.
European legislation obliges all EU goods producing companies to signal all products with a Digital Product Passport (PDP) in 2026.
According to the measure, the PDP works through a Unique digital identifier for each productwhich can be accessed through a QR code or similar technologies.
According to João Pedro Pinto, partner Aliados Consulting, project promoter, “This platform is a unique opportunity for companies to experience solutions that will put them on the front line of sustainability and innovation. The transition is not an option, it is a requirement to compete in the European market. ”
But what is, for sure, the PDP?
It is a QR code linked to a database that can be scanned and will contain the essential information of the product, such as the Origin of Materials/Components used in its manufacture, details about the production process and supply chain, nominations on product recycling and instructions for use.
The goal is to prolong the life of the product, promoting sustainability, but not only.
“The PDP comes to give transparency to the value chains. Through this, the way we interact and buy the products is about to change completely. Therefore, preparing companies is now more important than ever, ”said Henrique Pires, Isag’s subdirector, an initiative that explained the importance of the product in December, quoted by.
Stressed that this digital label will “allow the competent authorities to verify compliance with legal obligations by companies ”regarding the production and distribution of products.
Acrode with the initiative website, the preparation by companies will have to involve not only the adaptation of internal processes and IT systems, But also the collaboration between different elements in the textile value chain, from raw material to the final product.
More than 30 small and medium -sized companies (SME) are already testing on the platform that allows the validation of products and processes and which aims to ensure compliance with the new European Union rules. “Greentech Lab will include the virtual infrastructure necessary for the digitization process,” promises the government’s website.
