The defense of Filipe Martins, one of the accused in the alleged coup plot, will present a criminal news against the minister (), the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, and Federal Police agents for abuse of authority and coercion, among other crimes .
The reason is the information, which appears in the case of Mauro Cid’s award -winning denunciation, that in October 2023 there was a break from Martins cell phones, including geolocation data.
This would prove, according to the defense, that there was knowledge by the authorities that the former advisor of (PL) did not leave Brazil in late 2022.
His alleged trip to the US was the basis of the decree of Martins’ pre -trial detention for Moraes in February 2024, citing a risk of escape. The arrest was requested by the PF and had the agreement of Gonet. Martins stayed in jail for six months until he was released through precautionary measures.
