A new medical bulletin on Pope Francis’ health, hospitalized since last Friday (14), pointed out a “light improvement” in his inflammatory condition, with the situation being considered “stable”.
According to the Vatican statement on Wednesday (19), blood tests show a slight improvement in inflammatory rates.
After breakfast, Pope readed newspapers and participated in work activities with close collaborators. He also received the Eucharist before lunch.
The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who visited the Pope, said he is “alert and reactive”, as well as maintaining a good mood.
The 88 -year -old has been diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and, according to doctors, his condition remains “complex.”
Pope Francis had already faced pneumonia in March 2023, which demanded urgent hospitalization. Recently, his health deteriorated, leading to a more intense hospitalization.

Father Antonio Spadaro, close to the Pope, commented that the situation is difficult, but there is no reason for alarmisms, highlighting Francisco’s “extraordinary vital energy”.
He estimated that the recovery time can take two to three weeks, noting that the biggest challenge will be to convince the Pope to rest, as he has a history of not allowing himself.
