National Fund announces transfer of R $ 35.5 billion for education

States and municipalities will receive R $ 21.3 billion of resources; total value is 7.57% higher than in 2024

The National Education Development Fund (FNDE) released on Monday (17.FEV.2025) the criteria for distribution of the education salary to 2025. States, municipalities and Federal District will receive R $ 21.3 billion directly, while R $ 14.2 billion will be applied by FNDE in educational programs.

The appeal comes from the 2.5% contribution to the payroll of companies linked to Social Security. Of total revenue, 60% are destined to federative entities such as state and municipal quota, and 40% stay with FNDE.

Ordinance 167/2025 of the Fund establishes that the distribution considers the number of enrollment in public basic education, according to the 2024 school census. The value represents an increase of R $ 1.5 billion compared to the previous year.

Resources can finance school maintenance, transportation and equipment. The legislation prohibits the use for payment of personnel, pensions and pensions, according to the Federal Constitution and a.

The FNDE will make the transfers in 12 monthly installments, from February 2025 to January 2026, always until the 20th of each month. The agency also offers technical assistance to federative entities for the correct application of resources.

The educational salary is the main additional source of financing of Brazilian Basic Education. In 2024, the mechanism allowed investments in more than 40 million public school students, according to FNDE data.
