Former President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation was acquitted of the coercion crime
Luis Rubiales, former President of the Spanish Football Real Federation (RFEF), was sentenced, on Wednesday, by the National Superior Court, to pay a 10,800 euros fine for the unauthorized kiss that gave to player Jennifer Hermoso after the championship final of the world of 2023 ,.
However, despite being convicted of the crime of sexual assault, Rubiales was acquitted of the crime of coercion.
The prosecutor had asked for two and a half years of arrest for the former leader.
Rubiales is also forbidden to approach the player within 200 meters and communicate with hermoso for a year.
Luis Rubiales began to be tried on February 3 for sexual assault because of the kiss to Jenni Hermoso at Sydney stadium, as the Spain national team players were congratulated by several authorities and received the world champions medals, title, title that ended up conquering.
Rubiales was also tried by coercion, along with the former director of the men’s team of Spain Albert Luque, then-coach Jorge Vilda and the former marketing director of the Federation Ruben Rivera, for alleged pressures about the player.
The hearing of witnesses and accused in this trial ended on February 12 at the San Fernando de Henares Court.
Luis Rubiales who asked Jenni Hermoso to kiss her at Sydney stadium and that the footballer gave her the consent, something the player denied, also in court, reiterating that she was kissed on her lips against her will by the former president of the federation, Who referred as his “boss.”
Rubiales left the presidency of RFEF on September 10, 2023 and, weeks later, on October 30, FIFA suspended it from all soccer-related activities.
