Russian President Vladimir Putin called the reaction to negotiations between his country and the United States about the war in Ukraine in the midst of concerns that conversations will give major concessions to Kremlin at the expense of Ukraine.
Neither Kiev nor other European powers were at the summit in Saudi Arabia.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky accused US President Donald Trump after the American falsely accused Ukraine of starting the war with Russia.
But Putin rejected the answer, saying he never rejected negotiations with Europe or Kiev.
“Do they want to sit here at the negotiation table and mediate between Russia and the United States? Probably not. Why does the hysteria? Hysteria is inappropriate, ”he told journalists in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Putin also said that Trump had told him that Ukraine would be part of the negotiations – something the US leader said in public last week.
“As for, Trump told me in a telephone conversation, and I can confirm that, of course, the United States assume that the negotiation process will take place with the participation of Russia and Ukraine,” he said.
“No one is excluding Ukraine from this process. Therefore, there is no reason for such a reaction to the Russian American meeting, ”he said.
