Orange warning issued by the IPMA due to the forecast of maritime agitation indicates a moderate to high risk meteorological situation.
Seven continent districts will be on Friday under orange warning due to the forecast of strong maritime agitation, the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced on Thursday.
The districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under orange warning on Friday from 12:00.
The institute foresees “western/northwest waves five to six meters, which can reach ten meters of maximum height”, reads in a statement from IPMA.
Orange warning indicates a moderate to high risk meteorological situation and yellow risk for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.
