With 20 years of career, the duo’s sketches have already crossed continents and even landed on RTP for a season that can be seen on RTP Play. In this conversation loaded with humor (and Portuguese expressions), Derrick and Brian share their love for the community in which they grew up.
The pair also shares their favorite Portuguese food and reflects on their role as ambassadors of Portugal.
Tony Gonçalves was born in northern Portugal in 1973 and, at the age of four, emigrated with his parents to the US. At the professional level, he went through companies such as Sharp Electronics, Samsung and Warnermedia, where chief revenue officer, Managing revenues and investments in the area of advertising sales, streaming and entertainment.
With the mission of placing Portuguese companies and leaders in the international plan, Tony founded the To guide and advise Portuguese companies in the growth and transformation of their business.
In early 2024 he gathered Tribeca, based in New York, and SIC, with his Opto streaming platform, to launch the first edition of the US Tribeca Festival. Tony Gonçalves thus became the executive producer of the Tribeca Festival Lisbon, which took place between October 18 and 19, 2024.
‘The Heart & Hustle of Portugal’ is its first podcast and aims to gather a community in love with Portugal around a series of conversations with major national and international protagonists linked to the country and the cultural and business world.
