Lawyer Celso Vilardi, who represents former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), contested the former approach of orders Mauro Cid in an interview with the program WW this Thursday (20). The Bolsonaro defender stressed that, despite the accusations made by Mauro Cid, there are elements that contradict the coup narrative. Vilardi mentioned that, according to Cid himself, Bolsonaro would have said he was “praying to God” and “waiting for a proof of fraud in the elections.”
Actions that contradict coup accusation
Vilardi emphasized Bolsonaro’s actions that, in his view, contradict the accusation of attempted coup. “A person who wants to blow, put the Armed Forces on the street authorize the transmission of power to commanders who were appointed by the new government?” He asked, referring to the early possession of the new military commanders.
The lawyer also mentioned a recent interview with the “Live Wheel” of Defense Minister José Múcio, in which he would have stated that the army commanders did not meet him to make the transition, but that they did it after Bolsonaro intervened and ordering the transmission of power.
Vilardi concluded by stating that while these points are issues of merit to be discussed, he respectfully disagrees with the narrative presented by the accusation, indicating that Bolsonaro’s defense will be based on these arguments to contest the coup attempt allegations.
