The Italian Antimonopoly Office began investigating by BYD, Stellantis, Tesla and Volkswagen for the possible introduction of consumers about the performance of their electric vehicles.
The Italian Antimonopoly Office stated on Friday that it was investigating Byd, Stellantis, Tesla and Volkswagen (VW) for alleged introduction of consumers about the performance of their electric vehicles (EV). TASR reports this based on the Reuters report.
Unfair commercial practices
The investigation of possible unfair commercial practices concerns “information provided by consumers about the electric car, reducing the capacity of the battery and limited standard batteries, which may be contrary to the Consumer Code,” the regulatory authority said in a statement.
On Thursday, the Office carried out an inspection in the Italian headquarters of four automakers with the help of the Guardie di Finani, the Italian police for financial crimes.
The Chinese company Byd did not comment on the investigation. Stellantis and Volkswagen have not yet responded at a request for a comment and the Italian operation of Tesla could not be contacted immediately.
