The author MARCELO RUBENS PAIVA65, responsible for the book “I’m still here”which inspired the homonymous film starring FERNANDA TORRES59, spoke, for the first time, about the chances of the work to be consecrated with the Oscar 2025.
On the morning of Friday (21), Rubens used the X, former Twitter, to say that the dispute is fierce, but every year is like this.
“It will be the first and only time I speak of Oscar. There is a lot of misinformation in the Brazilian press. Chances of gaining better foreign film are strong. All the awards Emilia Pérez won, such as Bafta and Golden Globe, were ‘voted’ before the controversies the movie generated, ”he began on the social network.
“Is the dispute fierce? Every year is like this. The actually pocketed. But there is a detail. ‘I’m still here’ debuts today in the United Kingdom. Few people saw the movie there. So much so that it was not even indicated. My bet: she or the wonderful Mickey Madison wins the Oscar, ”he continued.
Soon after, Paiva explained that, among 10,000 voters, more than 1,000 are English and French, so the scenario is uncertain as the best film. “For me, it is between Conclave and Anora. Brady Cobert and Adrien Brody of Brutalist are right names, ”he added.
“And I’m sorry, I’m from the middle, 40 years of experience. How did Brazilian specialized criticism decay so much? To say that the film is not a political is an affront to our story. Who agreed the most was a young woman of Asian from Variety: “Classic in form, radical in empathy,” he wrote.
Finally, he also joked that those who follow him know that he usually gives pitacos about the winners of the international awards. “And of course, error almost always, like all colleagues. Who posts today here is not the author of the book I am still here, but the columnist, journalist and diletto, ”he said.
