This unique cake once hosted the tables of Lithuanian nobility – it is from this kitchen that comes from this kitchen. In addition to aristocratic tables, they were also served among the people, but only for special occasions. No wonder, because his delicious taste delighted everyone.
Podlasie, who is famous for inspired by the eastern culture, also took over this recipe over time. The Podlasie anthill is particularly popular in the Suwałki region, but also appears in other corners of the region. Now you can prepare them at home using our recipe. Claced with honey, fragile, definitely melts in the mouth.
You need to make this recipe:
- 350 g of flour,
- 300 ml of frying oil,
- 150 g of honey,
- 150 g cukru,
- 4 large eggs,
- a pinch of salt,
- powdered sugar (for sprinkling).
Prepare a larger bowl, stick the eggs into it. Add a pinch of flour and mix until a uniform consistency. Once you do this, add flour in batches, mix vigorously with a fork. When the dough is thick, put it on the flour -dusted board.
Add the remaining flour and knead the dough -unshantly dough. Form a ball from the dough, cover with cling film and put it on for 20-30 minutes.
After this time, divide the dough into 2 equal parts. Roll out each of them into a 2 mm thick cake. Cut each cake into 5 cm wide stripes. Sprinkle the strips with flour, place one on top of the other and cut into stripes 1 cm wide.
Heat the oil in a deep frying pan, and put as many stripes of dough on hot fat to make them swim freely. Fry the dough on medium heat, up to bilateral browning. Take fried pieces of dough with a slotted spoon on a paper towel that will absorb excess fat.
When you fry the whole dough, leave it to cool. In the meantime, prepare the syrup. Mix honey with sugar in a saucepan. On medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook the whole for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
Put fried cakes into a bowl, pour them with hot syrup and mix thoroughly. Put a mixture of cakes and syrup to a baking tray forming a mound. Put the dough in the fridge so that the caramel freezes and stick the cookies. Serve the anthill dough divided into portions with a cup of your favorite tea. You can sprinkle with powdered sugar.
