National Institute of Meteorology warns that the Midwest Gaucho can record temperatures of up to 40ºC
It is preparing to face a new one this weekend, with high temperatures planned for various regions of the country. According to the Climate Tempo Institute, the phenomenon should mainly reach Rio Grande do Sul, West of Santa Catarina and Paraná. Parts of the state of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul will also feel the impact of intense heat. The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) warns that the Midwest Gaucho can record temperatures up to 40ºC, with the thermal sensation of up to four degrees above.
This will be the third wave of heat registered in Brazil this year, according to Inmet. The worldwide weather organization defines a heat wave as a period when maximum daily temperatures exceed 5ºC or more monthly averages for a week. In addition to the heat, the country faces an unstable climate, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in some regions. In São Paulo, for example, the heat is expected to be accompanied by irregular storms, which can cause flooding and flooding. The Civil Defense has issued alerts for the population to protect themselves both from heat and rainfall.
