The chairman of the Joint Budget Commission, Deputy Júlio Arcoverde (PP/PI), said that this year’s budget piece was not voted first by “disinterest” of the Planalto Palace, due to “legal confusion” regarding parliamentary amendments in the year past.

The parliamentarian said he saw with “strangeness” the statements of the first echelon of the government to “put in the account of the CMO the non -approval of budget 2025 so far.”

“The president of the CMO states that if there was disinterest in voting the budget last year was the Planalto Palace itself, in view of the legal confusions caused by the Supreme Court,” says the note sent to the press.

In the text, Arcoverde points out that the collegiate has always shown interest in discussing and voting for LOA 2025 and that several deliberative sessions have been suspended “for months to ensure the quorum necessary to start voting the budget piece.”

For him, the impasse penalizes municipalities, farmers and delays the works across the country. He further pointed out that the CMO is “ready and willing to fulfill its legislative mission.”

On Friday (21), Finance Minister Fernando Haddad several times criticized the delay in approving the 2025 budget. In an interview with ICL News, the head of the economic team also said that the delay could harm this year’s crop , since the government depends on the crop plan.

“Regrettably, Congress did not appreciate the budget. The information I have is that the report has not even been presented and will not be presented in the short term, ”he said at the time.

Haddad knows what the problem

The rapporteur of the Annual Budget Law (LOA) 2025, Senator Angelo Colonel (PSD-BA), said that the Minister of Finance knows “very well where the problem is” without specifying the obstacles.

The advance of the proposal is locked by three questions: the amendments, which do not yet agree with the Supreme Court (STF), the Step Program and the Gas Valley, which are not in the budget.

For the amendments, the presidents of the House and Senate will meet with Flávio Dino on February 27 to try an agreement.

As for the Péca-de Step program, a decision of TCU has released funds, and the government will send a law for adjustments. Already Vale Gas requires a “adjustment” of the farm to allocate $ 3 billion. Without these measures, the 2025 final budget report cannot be closed.
