Electoral Justice condemns Marçal and declares him ineligible – 21/02/2025 – Power

The Electoral Court of São Paulo condemned (), a defeated candidate in the last election for the city of São Paulo, for abuse of political and economic power, determining that he is ineligible for eight years, from 2024.

Judge Antonio Maria Patiño Zorz, from the 1st Electoral Zone, partially welcomed actions brought by the campaign of () and by the party that had as a candidate.

According to the judge, the practice was an “unlawful conduct that boasts the potential to damage the protected legal good (legitimacy of elections)”. Zorz also stated that Marçal’s attitude “constitutes highly reprehensible conduct (qualitative gravity) and violating the principle of legitimacy of elections.”

In the process, Marçal’s defense stated that the appeals received were later reversed and that only six people even made transfers. However, the arguments were not accepted by the judge.

In recent weeks, lawyer Paulo Hamilton, who represents Marçal in the actions, said there was no illicit on the part of the then candidate.
