Brasilia, DF (Folhapress) – Hamas delivered back to Israel five more hostages this Saturday (22). A sixth captured should be released by the terrorist group in the coming hours.

Tal Shoham, 40, and the averse Mengista, 39, were the first released. Hours later, Eliya Cohen, 27, Omer Shem Tov, 22, and Omer Wenkert, 23, were also handed over to the Red Cross, who leads them to Israel. Hisham al-Sayed, 36, should be the sixth hostage released on Saturday, according to the announced by Hamas in the agreement with Tel Aviv.

Release occurs after a week when the ceasefire ongoing in the conflict between Israel and Hamas shook after the terrorist group parade with kidnapping bodies before returning them.

The episode horrified and generated desolation in Israel, where there was hope that Shiri Bibas and his two sons, Ariel and Kfir, be released still alive. Shiri and his children became symbols of the brutality of terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023, when the family was kidnapped at Nir Oz’s Kibibutz and taken to the Gaza Strip.

One in four residents of Kibbutz Nir Oz was killed or hostage to the attack. A few hours after the kidnapping, images of Shiri surrounded by armed men and holding their children, who were eight and a half and four years old at the time of the attack, took social networks.

The Red Cross International Committee, an organization that has been receiving Hamas hostages and taking them to Israel, had asked, before the graft parade, that the delivery of bodies would happen to “privacy and dignity.” “We need to be clear: any degrading treatment during release operations is unacceptable,” the organization said.

The speech referenced the latest hostage deliveries, made by Hamas also amid military parades, live broadcasts and photographs of kidnapping on stage – those seen as propaganda of the terrorist group.

The exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners this Saturday is the seventh of this truce. The current ceasefire came into force on January 19, after 15 months of war and a few other episodes of pause in hostilities.
