Spring is approaching and gardeners look impatiently first warm days to go on the land and start with this year’s work. They will certainly include the protection of fruit trees and future crops from pests. We will advise how to do it.
We want to have a tree in the garden for many years, so we also have to take care of its health and protect it from possible pests. At the same time, we also prevent the crop of fruit that we do not want to give to the worms and other “pišišvors”, instead of enjoying it ourselves. But how to do the best, most effective, and as well as environmentally friendly? The solution can be easier than we think.

Use cardboard
One of the very easy solutions outlined the problem is wrapping corrugated cardboard around the tree trunk. Doesn’t such simplicity seem to work? The opposite is true, the cardboard is very effectively involved in the fight against pests who could attack both the tree itself and the fruit.
It’s really easy
In short, wrap the cardboard around the tree trunk and attach it to the common, ideally jute, rope. It is an ecological variant of garden care, so try to avoid artificial ropes and similar materials. You can also spread the next part of the cardboard into a smaller circle on the ground around the trunk. Here it will not be quite about protection from uninvited boarders, but to prevent grass and weeds in close proximity to the tree. This gives the tree the opportunity to use moisture and sun rays better, which will better heat the soil in close proximity to the tree.
Cheap variant of trees care
Which pests get a clear stopper thanks to this easy solution? Gardeners who have already tried the method already speak of fruiting meters, but also other insects. Certainly it is not an unnecessary procedure that will not even work expensive. A square meter of such a material can be bought for a price of about ten crowns and is enough to wrap a tree with a diameter of the trunk around thirty centimeters to a sufficient height of one meter.
It’s not just a pest
The mentioned method now has one more advantage in early spring, but of course in winter – it is a protection of trees from ground floor frosts that can completely destroy them. Especially young trees should be thoroughly protected before they themselves create sufficient resistance to adverse external influences. After all, we plant the trees for many years and mostly adhere to them as a distinctive and difficult to replace components of our surroundings.
Safe and ecological disposal
Those who would be worried, as the unnecessary cardboard will be eliminated correctly, does not have to be stressed in any way. According to experienced gardeners, this completely natural material can be composted without problems, even in small pieces burrow directly into the flowerbed, where the material soon decomposes and brings even a better substrate structure. So there is nothing to worry about, try it, you will be pleasantly surprised.
