The president of, the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad criticized again on Friday (21).
At a news conference after a lecture at the Commercial Association of Kassab, who is a secretary in the government of (Republicans), said the petista commands a “fragile ministry”.
“I have said that Minister Haddad had good projects approved, but that others that are as important as he has not had the strength to approve,” said Kassab. “Therefore, it is a fragile ministry that cannot approve its measures,” he continued.
The secretary said, however, that he “cheers for the government” and denied that he criticized economic policies. “The PSD did not support the president in his campaign, but understands that he was elected and we have no problem supporting all the measures we understand are positive for the country,” he said.
In January, Kassab said he is weak in the conduct of, unlike figures who held the position in the past, such as Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Antonio Palocci, Henrique Meirelles and Paulo Guedes, in his assessment.
“What we see today is a difficulty of Minister Haddad to command. A weak economy minister is always a bad indicative,” he said at the time.
“I believe in the success of the economy when you have strong ministers. In the FHC government itself, where I was a federal deputy, you were going to send some suggestions to the president and he himself said ‘this is not with me is with the [Pedro] Malan ‘. No [primeiro] Lula government, Palocci commanded. In the Temer government, Meirelles commanded. All the good times of Bolsonaro were related to Paulo Guedes. And President Dilma was not well because she wanted to command the economy, “Kassab said during an event in Sao Paulo at the end of last month.
With three ministries on the Esplanada (fishing, agriculture, and mines and energy), the PSD is the basis of the Lula administration, but the party president is secretary in the São Paulo government, led by Tarcisio, one of the main names in the dispute for the right place in the right Presidential race of 2026.
After Kassab’s first criticism of Haddad in January, the relationship between the party and the Planalto Palace was shudder. In Brasilia, the speech was received as a warning regarding ministerial reform, as the PSD has made it clear in conversations that opposes the loss of strategic folders.
