At the beginning of January, President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini for the first time to award state awards. The award list was also supposed to be Legendary Slovak actress Zdena Studenková (70)but she refused him. The website warned of its explanation why it did not receive this award. She told him at a public debate calls in Pistori.
“It was a simple and spontaneous answer: ‘Thank you, I don’t ask.’ In the current situation, I would not wish to take any price from this government, which thus pumped culture. It just doesn’t exist. I can’t imagine it. My hand would have fallen away if I had to shake my hand there. I act quite impulsively, but what I say is true. There were no two minutes of hesitation. Simply, it does not exist. Why would it be? Indeed, ”said the acting diva.
After this gesture, Studenková received support from part of the public or her colleagues from the industry. Actress Kristína Svarinská, who plays with Studenková in the Markizácka Danube, was at that time in Sri Lanka, but she still did not miss her novelty from Slovakia. “Long live the queen,” she wrote on Instagram. The actress’s decision was not left unanswered. Pellegrini fully respected her decision and said that there are enough other citizens in Slovakia who deserve honors for their work.
“Actress Zdena Studenková, due to the recent survival of the round anniversary, was in a narrower selection for candidates who could receive a state honor. Finally, she decided not to accept this respect and thanks from the state and citizens for her lifelong work. It is her decision and I fully respect it, ”said Pellegrini.
He added that state awards are awarded on the occasion of the establishment of the Slovak Republic and have nothing to do with the current political situation. According to the head of state, it is the highest honor that a Slovak citizen can receive.
