The family confirms that the body delivered on Friday by Hamas is that of the Hostén Shiri Bibas
“This morning we have received the news we feared.” The Bibas family has confirmed early this Saturday that the remains delivered late Friday by Hamas do finally correspond to Shiri’s. “Tonight, our Shiri was returned home,” says the family in a statement after the tests held at the Tel Aviv Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. It is the same as Thursday that in his alleged coffin were actually the remains of a woman from Gaza, which caused a great scandal. Now, after 16 months of uncertainty in which Hamas confirmed his death, but not Israel, the family states that the time has come to assume it, although “wounded and destroyed.”
The text refers to the death of women in the strip without pointing to the causes. “Shiri was murdered in captivity and has now returned home with her children, husband, sister and her whole family to rest,” he adds. Among Thursday’s coffins were, however, the bodies of his two children, Ariel, kidnapped 7 October 2023 with four years, and Kfir, with nine months and the youngest of the approximately 250 captives made that day, including their parents. Progenitor, Yarden, kidnapped in Kibutz himself, Nir Oz, was transferred to another place and was saved.
Friday has been a Jordanian of vertigo amid accusations and threats by Israel against the Islamist movement for not having fulfilled his commitment that Shiri’s was one of the four bodies he delivered on Thursday. After the first forensic evidence, it was found that their remains were not in the coffin identified with their name and photo. It was, in reality, the body of a Gazatí woman. The Jewish State promised to avenge what it considered an intentional change, while Hamas claimed that it could have been an error and that the remains could have been confused when recovered from the rubble after an Israeli bombing.
