US President Donald Trump checks the introduction of tariffs to imports from countries that collect digital service taxes to US technology companies. These taxes targeted on dominant US tech giants such as Google, Facebook, Apple and Amazon have long been a nuisance for US governments. Austria has been raising a digital tax since 2020, and its increase was – with a view to the budget renovation – topic in the coalition negotiations.
