How to clean the burnt iron? This household remedy is simple and effective
The burnt iron can be easily cleaned with a simple household agent. Just go to the kitchen for an ordinary onion. It is a very effective and natural method that does not require the use of any detergent and facilitates the cleaning of the iron so much that we do not have to scrub it.
The use of onion to clean the iron has many advantages. First of all, it is a method that is very gentle, so we do not scratch the surface. This is particularly important when the iron or ceramic coating is sensitive to this type of damage.
If we want to get rid of burns on the iron, we must follow the following steps:
- We choose a large piece of onion, cut it in half and then remove the outer layer.
- We heat the iron so that it is warm but not hot. Then disconnect it from the mains to avoid burns.
- Place half the onion on the iron and rub the colored surface. After a while, the onion begins to release the juice that softens burned residues. Leave the onion juice for 5 to 10 minutes.
- After this time, wipe the iron with a damp cloth to get rid of the burns and juice. If the stain is not completely removed, repeat the procedure or additionally wipe the iron with a sponge soaked in water. However, we must not forget that the onion should be used best immediately after burning the iron, because the stain is much more difficult to wash.
How else can we clean the burns on the iron?
If we do not have onion on hand, we can try other household remedies that are equally effective. A good idea is to reach for a edible soda. Just mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda with a small amount of water and create a thick paste. Apply it to the burnt spot, wipe with a cloth and finally wash everything with a damp sponge.
Another method is to use kitchen salt and baking paper. We must spread a thin layer of salt on the baking paper sheet, then turn on the iron to medium temperature and iron over the salt paper until the burns disappear. Finally, wipe the surface with a dry cloth. To clean the burnt iron will also come in handy vinegar and water. Simply soak the cloth in vinegar and wipe the burnt surface with it. Heat the vinegar in case of heavier removable spots.
